Targeted Call for LEADER funding applications

Expressions of Interest and project applications are currently being sought from applicants located within the SECAD Partnership area of West Cork, under the

Protection and Sustainable use of Water Resources

Applications are being sought from community-based groups, farmers and businesses who are interested in pursuing a capital, training or technical feasibility project related to sustainable use of water within their local community/business.

Examples of projects might include:

  • Community access to local water amenities
  • Rainwater harvesting projects
  • Infrastructure at lakeside, riverside amenities (picnic areas, walking trails, angling/birdwatching infrastructure, interpretive or directional signage)
  • Rare species conservation initiatives on our waters
  • Invasive species control of aquatic or riparian zones

The total LEADER budget allocated to this call is €100,000 (minimum grant is €5,000)

A rate of aid up to 75% grant aid is available for community-based capital projects
A rate of aid up to 50% grant aid is available for farms/private business capital projects

Call for LEADER funding applications

 

Call 1:  Rural Youth sub-theme of LEADER

Expressions of Interest and Project Applications are currently being sought from applicants located within the LEADER Zone 3 of West Cork, under the

Rural Youth sub-theme of LEADER.

Applications are being sought from community groups & youth organisations who require technical support to develop space or infrastructure for use by young people (aged 15-35) within their local community. The aim of this fund is to provide applicant groups with the technical and professional services required to develop a plan, explore feasibility and procurement requirements and other essential statutory requirements.

Priority will be given to:

  • Projects which are community led
  • Projects that focus on utilising existing space to facilitate youth activities
  • Projects with the potential to lead to large scale capital projects
  • Projects which support young people to combat social exclusion and mental health issues

The total LEADER budget allocated to this call is €50,000 and the grant range available is €5,000-€10,000.

A rate of up to 90% grant aid is available for Analysis and Development projects.

  •  Mainstream sporting organisations do not qualify for support under this call.
  • Applications for capital support will not be accepted under this call.
  • Playgrounds are not eligible under this call.

Call 2:  Enterprise Development sub-theme of LEADER

Expressions of Interest and Project Applications are currently being sought from applicants located within the LEADER zone 3 of West Cork,

under the

Enterprise Development sub-theme of LEADER.

 

SECAD will support projects requiring Capital Investment in Enterprise Space e.g. hot desks / co-working space / incubation space etc.

Priority will be given to:

  • Projects which are community or business network led
  • Projects that focus on the development / renovation of rural infrastructure in order to encourage start-ups / business expansion
  • Projects which promote cluster development of small enterprise through shared facilities and services
  • Projects which show clear potential for rural employment opportunities

SECAD expect projects that will seek a grant range of €30,000-€80,000.

Applicants for capital projects must provide proof of ownership/satisfactory lease of land/buildings and outline their planning permission status on their Expression of Interest Form.

Call 3:  Basic Services for Hard to Reach Communities

Expressions of Interest and Project Applications are currently being sought from community and voluntary groups located within the LEADER Zone3 area of West Cork under the following sub-theme:

                                   Basic Services for Hard to Reach Communities

Priority will be given to capital projects that improve existing or create new:

  • Community Recreation Space
  • Community Facilities
  • Outdoor or Indoor amenities
  • ICT facilities for the improvement of rural services and digital innovation

The following will not be considered under this call:

  • Statues or commemorative structures of any kind
  • Facilities that are not open to use by all members of the community
  • Applications from private member based clubs or societies
  • Mainstream sports activities
  • Installation and/or purchase of Defibrillators

Projects should benefit a broad range of community interests and promote social inclusion for multi user groups. SECAD expect projects that will seek a grant range of €30,000-€100,000. Community Projects are eligible for a rate of up to 75% grant aid. Capital projects must have full planning permission or a planning exemption at the time of application.

Call 4: Rural Tourism sub-theme of LEADER

Expressions of Interest and Project Applications are currently being sought from applicants located within the Zone 3 LEADER area of West Cork, under the

Rural Tourism sub-theme of LEADER.

SECAD will support projects which focus on the development of;

New and existing Tourism Attractions and Facilities.

Priority will be given to Agri Tourism and Food Tourism projects

Projects must have the potential to make the area more attractive for local, national and foreign visitors, have a clear added-benefit to the local tourism industry and economy and have the potential to increase visitor numbers to the area. Applicants for capital projects must provide proof of ownership/satisfactory lease of land/buildings and have full planning permission or a planning exemption at the time of application.
 

SECAD expect projects that will seek a grant range of €30,000-€80,000.
