About us

The West Cork Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) – a Committee of Cork County Council – was confirmed as the LEADER Local Action Group (LAG) for West Cork and the programme officially commenced on the 1st December 2016. The new group – branded “LEADER West Cork” – managed the allocation of €5 million in LEADER funding across West Cork for the period 2014-2020.

The programme was being rolled out by the West Cork LAG, Avondhu Blackwater Partnership CLG,  Comhar na Oileán and  SECAD local development companies operating in the West Cork Council division.

West Cork LEADER LAG plays a crucial role in fostering vibrant rural areas by supporting economic development, community cohesion, environmental sustainability, and tourism. By empowering local communities and encouraging sustainable practices, the LAG helps ensure that West Cork remains a dynamic and prosperous region.
